Job summary

Ashhead offices? Aspinal of London is seeking an HR & Payroll Advisor to be the first contact for HR across the business, running core people processes end to end with support from the Head of People & Talent and Payroll Manager.

The role blends hands-on admin with advisory work in a small, entrepreneurial team. The post is full-time, hybrid, and requires attendance at the West Sussex Head Office on Thursdays with travel to London when needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a generalist HR role with hands-on ER casework experience.
• Payroll exposure within an HR remit.
• CIPD Level 3 or 5 or working towards it.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and family-leave rules.
• Confident, calm and credible with managers and employees.
• Organised, accurate and capable in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel to London and other sites as needed.
• Experience in a Founder-led, entrepreneurial agile business.

Responsibilities

• Employee relations: advise and support managers and employees; manage ER cases.
• Payroll data: handling starters, leavers, changes, and payroll-related queries.
• Compliance & policy: update policies per employment law changes.
• Onboarding/offboarding: assist with inductions, contracts, and exits.
• Recruitment support: assist hiring managers during peak periods.
• General HR administration and reporting as required.
