Job summary

Aspinal of London is seeking an HR & Payroll Advisor to be the first point of contact for HR across the business. The role blends hands-on admin with advisory work, supporting the Head of People & Talent and Payroll Manager while deputising when needed.

You will manage HR processes end to end, from onboarding to exits, handle payroll inputs, reporting, and ensure policy compliance. Travel to London sites as required and attend the West Sussex Head Office on Thursdays.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a generalist HR role with hands-on ER casework.
• Previous payroll exposure is required.
• CIPD Level 3 or 5, or working towards it.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for HR queries from ~250 employees and managers.
• Run probation reviews, extensions and exits with managers.
• Investigate and manage disciplinary, grievance and capability processes and prepare letters.
• Manage sickness absence and return-to-work discussions.
• Lead meetings on maternity, paternity, adoption, and shared parental leave.
• Handle holidays in HR system, entitlements, carry-over and approvals.
• Coach managers to handle people issues effectively.
• Own onboarding and offboarding processes, including inductions and leaver follow-up.
• Support recruitment during peak seasonal hires across Head Office, Retail and Warehouse.
• Provide accurate monthly payroll inputs and resolve exceptions.
• Maintain audit-ready employee records and generate basic HR reports.
• Process payroll during holidays and sickness as needed.
• Ensure right-to-work checks, H&S documentation, and statutory records are complete.
• Keep HR policies up to date with employment law changes.
• Support sample sales, engagement initiatives and company events.
