Job summary

Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to join the Housing Reception Team. This full-time, permanent role involves delivering housing advice and homelessness prevention in a busy, front-line environment within a hybrid working setup.

You will interpret housing legislation, work with the public to find housing solutions, and make statutory homelessness decisions while meeting service targets and deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience of working in a housing options team within a local authority Housing Service or similar.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant housing legislation in a rule-driven environment.
• Experience of working directly with the public face-to-face and over the phone.
• Experience in a busy, frontline, customer-focused team.
• Experience working in a performance-driven environment with targets and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provide an effective and comprehensive housing advice and homelessness service to residents of the borough.
• Work with customers to provide solutions to housing issues using homelessness prevention options.
• Make enquiries for statutory homelessness applications, gather information and make statutory homelessness decisions.
• Handle customer enquiries about housing applications and housing issues face-to-face, by telephone and online, updating them accordingly.
