Job summary

Rushcliffe Borough Council seeks an experienced Housing Options Advisor to join the Housing Options Team in Nottinghamshire. You will provide comprehensive housing options advice, promote homelessness prevention, and carry out detailed assessments.

The role is based at Rushcliffe Arena with hybrid working. You will investigate homelessness applications, develop Personalised Housing Plans, and make statutory homelessness decisions in partnership with agencies to prevent homelessness wherever

Qualifications

• Experience in homelessness prevention or housing advice.
• Experience with vulnerable people in complex situations.
• Experience managing a client caseload and interviewing clients.
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation (Housing Act Part VII and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).
• Up-to-date knowledge of housing and tenancy legislation.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage a varied workload and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive housing options advice and promote homelessness prevention.
• Investigate homelessness applications and develop Personalised Housing Plans.
• Make statutory homelessness decisions and work with partner organisations.
• Work with private landlords and support providers to achieve positive outcomes.
• Contribute to Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy and prevention initiatives.
• Cover an out-of-hours rota with standby payments.
