Job summary

Workman LLP seeks a Building Surveyor trainee through its Graduate Pathways, offering hands-on experience and early client exposure within the Building Consultancy team. You will inspect properties, prepare reports, support project management, and pursue APC/Chartered status.

The programme includes industry events, IOSH, and structured support toward professional qualifications and career development in a hybrid working setup.

Qualifications

• RICS-accredited Building Surveying degree with a minimum 2:2 classification (or equivalent).
• Non-RICS degree with a minimum 2:2 classification.
• 96 UCAS tariff points (or equivalent) and GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent); OR Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying or Construction with minimum DD profile and GCSE 4/C or above.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking building inspections and property surveys.
• Preparing schedules of condition, dilapidations, and defect reports.
• Assisting with contract administration and project management duties.
• Supporting refurbishment, repair, and maintenance projects.
• Preparing specifications, reports, and technical advice for clients.
• Ensuring compliance with building regulations, health and safety legislation, and industry standards.
• Assisting clients with planned maintenance strategies and asset improvement programmes.
• Working closely with colleagues and clients to deliver projects on time and within budget.
• A genuine interest in buildings, construction, and the built environment.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a team.
