Costello Medical is looking for a curious, commercially minded Data Analyst to join our Finance and Operations team in Cambridge. You will turn business needs into analytics, deliver Power BI dashboards, and define KPIs across functions to inform decisions.

This role goes beyond reporting; you will help shape strategy, build scalable data solutions, support forecasting, budgeting and scenario modelling, and work across tools like Power BI, Excel, SQL, Python or VBA to automate and improve

Qualifications

• Degree in a quantitative field (2:1 or equivalent).
• 2–3 years of data analytics experience in a finance context.
• Strong Power BI skills for dashboards/reports.
• Solid FP&A knowledge for defining KPIs and metrics.
• Data cleaning, validation and quality assurance.
• Understanding of data governance, security and privacy best practices.
• Excellent communication and data storytelling.
• Proven cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
• Document data sources, transformations, and dashboards; maintain data lineage.
• Strong time management in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with Python for advanced analyses.
• Proficient SQL for data extraction and shaping datasets.
• Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Power Pivot).
• Designing robust data models (star/snowflake) and scalable analytics solutions.
• Automation/report scheduling and dashboard delivery improvements.
• Familiarity with data storytelling frameworks and dashboard usability.
• Experience within the big 4 professional services networks.

Responsibilities

• Analyse financial and operational performance to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
• Define, track and evolve KPIs and key financial metrics.
• Communicate insights clearly through strong data storytelling.
• Design and Deliver engaging Power BI dashboards and reports to support business decisions.
• Support forecasting, budgeting and scenario modelling through data-led insights.
