Job summary

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks is seeking an Electrical CMI Network Designer to join our team. The role is hybrid with 50% office/depot presence, requiring site visits across the South Distribution Network and liaison with stakeholders to ensure feasible, safe designs aligned with SSEN policies.

You will prepare design deliverables using our Design Standards, support CAPEX/OPEX investment schemes, and help enable SSE to meet its Net Zero ambitions while travel is regular and a valid

Qualifications

• Experience in the design/consents/construction of LV to 33kV networks would be advantageous.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and experience with the NRSWA code of practice.
• IOSH or similar health and safety qualification would be advantageous.
• Regular travel is required and a current driving licence is essential.
• Organisational skills with ability to work quickly, accurately and independently under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Make network alterations, refurbishments and wayleave terminations from LV cables up to 33kV poles.
• Liaise with customers, land agents, local authorities and SSE colleagues, including site visits.
• Identify archaeology, ecological and environmental concerns prior to works.
• Produce design deliverables (drawings, documents, access packages, PCI's) to handover with construction teams.
• Ensure schemes handed to delivery are CDM compliant and health and safety risks are mitigated.
