Job summary

SSEN Distribution, part of the wider SSE group, is seeking an Electrical CMI Network Designer to join our team. You will work on a portfolio of design tasks, site visits, and CDM-compliant scheme handovers within a dynamic distribution network.

The role is hybrid, with 50% office presence and regular travel to sites across the South Distribution Network. You will contribute to safe, cost-effective and deliverable designs aligned with SSEN standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in the design/consents/construction of new cable routes, new overhead lines, network refurbishment, plant replacement and alterations on the LV to 33kV networks would be advantageous.
• CDM regulations knowledge and experience of working with the NRSWA code of practice would be beneficial.
• IOSH or similar health and safety qualification would be advantageous.
• Organisational skills and the ability to work quickly, accurately, and independently whilst under pressure.
• Regular travel is required and a current driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Make a variety of network alterations, refurbishments, and wayleave terminations from LV cables, 11kV distribution substations up to and including 33kV poles.
• Liaise with customers, land agents, local authorities, and SSE colleagues to achieve a fit for purpose design, including site visits.
• Identify archaeology, ecological and environmental concerns and other land designations prior to works starting.
• Produce design deliverables (drawings, documents, access package and PCIs) using SSEN's Design Standards for handover to the construction team.
• Ensure all schemes handed to delivery are CDM compliant, reducing health and safety risks.
