Job summary

Aldwych Consulting in Nottingham is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer at junior to intermediate level to join their Building Services team. You will contribute to electrical building services design from concept to detail, collaborating with clients, contractors and other engineers to deliver energy-efficient, compliant solutions.

You'll work on lighting, small power, distribution and related systems, using AutoCAD and Revit, with support from senior engineers and opportunities to progress

Qualifications

• HNC, HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2–3 years’ relevant experience in electrical building services design within a consultancy or building services contractor.
• Sound understanding of electrical building services systems and their application in commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of Building Regulations and the IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671, 18th Edition).
• Experience producing electrical design drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit, alongside electrical design and calculation software.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation of electrical building services designs for tender and detailed design.
• Producing electrical drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports.
• Undertaking site surveys, inspections and assessments of existing electrical installations.
• Supporting design of lighting, small power, distribution systems, emergency lighting and fire alarms.
• Using industry-standard design software to develop and coordinate design information.
• Liaising with clients, contractors, architects and other consultants for project coordination.
• Attending design team meetings and occasional site visits.
• Supporting senior engineers to deliver projects on time, to budget and to standard.
