Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is seeking a Litigation Handler in the UK to manage a caseload of EL/PL claims for public sector clients, from issue to trial, including small, fast, and multi-track matters.

You will apply Civil Procedure Rules, assess liability, and coordinate with insurers, solicitors, and clients to drive the best outcomes. A Law degree with LPC and EL/PL experience are required, with the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• Law degree and LPC required.
• Experience in EL/PL litigation and personal injury claims.
• Defence claims handling experience in insurer/TPA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend litigated EL/PL claims on behalf of large corporates, managing cases from issue to trial.
• Handle small, fast, and multi-track claims, providing support to Partners when required.
• Assess liability, set and maintain reserves, and investigate the merits of third-party claims.
• Negotiate with third parties, insurers, and solicitors to achieve best outcomes.
• Apply the Civil Procedure Rules and relevant Authorities to secure optimal results.
• Ensure compliance with office protocols, client SLAs, and KPIs.
• Maintain data integrity on the case management system.
• Delegate tasks to Claims Administration Assistants.
• Act as a technical and procedural referral point for others in the team.
• Ensure compliance with financial transactions in line with SLAs and Solicitors’ Accounts Rules.
