Job summary

Gallagher Bassett is seeking an experienced Solicitor to join the litigation team and manage a complex EL/PL caseload from inception through to trial. You will provide technical guidance, support junior team members, and deliver high-quality outcomes for public sector clients.

The role focuses on defendant EL/PL litigation, requiring strong knowledge of CPR and case law, with opportunities to mentor others and contribute to continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

• Qualified Solicitor with experience handling defendant EL/PL litigation matters.
• Strong knowledge of personal injury litigation, Civil Procedure Rules and relevant case law.
• Proven ability to manage a litigated caseload independently, including multi-track and complex claims.
• Experience with insurer, public sector or TPA clients is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of litigated EL/PL claims from issue through to trial, including complex fast and multi-track matters.
• Assess liability, quantum, and litigation risk; provide strategic advice and reserving recommendations.
• Draft and review legal documentation, instruct counsel and experts, and develop defence strategies.
• Negotiate settlements with claimants, insurers and solicitors to achieve best outcomes for clients.
• Ensure compliance with Civil Procedure Rules, legislation, and case law; maintain robust records and client communications.
