Job summary

National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) is seeking a Primary Network Design Engineer for Castle Donington, combining office and home working in a hybrid model. The role focuses on power system analysis and network design for new connections and reinforcements across 132kV, 66kV and 33kV networks.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in Electrical Power Engineering, understands EHV networks, and can deliver high-quality technical solutions within tight timescales.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Comprehensive understanding of EHV and 132kV networks and related standards.
• Strong communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience with power system analysis and modelling software is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess and design new demand and generation connections for the 132kV and EHV network.
• Prepare connection offers, budgets and feasibility studies.
• Liaise with customers to manage connections and ensure on-time delivery within budget.
• Design reinforcement schemes and produce capital sanctions for network upgrades.
• Support roll-out of Active Network Management and collaborate with NGED teams.
