Job summary

National Grid is recruiting a Primary Network Design (PND) Engineer to join the NGED team in Castle Donington. The role blends office and home working after initial training, focusing on the design of 132kV, 66kV and 33kV networks and new connections.

You will analyse networks, prepare offers, and liaise with customers to ensure safe, on-budget delivery while supporting network reinforcement and Active Network Management initiatives.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of EHV/132kV networks.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines.
• Experience with power system analysis software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assess and design new demand and generation connections.
• Prepare connection offers, budget estimates and feasibility studies.
• Liaise with customers and manage connections to ensure on-time delivery.
• Assess 132kV and EHV network for compliance and recommendations.
• Design reinforcement schemes and produce capital sanctions.
• Support earthing, power quality and Active Network Management roll-out.
