Job summary

ARM International in Manchester is seeking a Senior DevOps Platform Engineer for a 12-month contract in the banking tech space. The role blends hands-on platform engineering with SRE disciplines, focusing on building and operating Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters in a hybrid, on-site heavy environment.

You will design Terraform modules, develop an internal developer platform (Backstage, templates, plugins) and implement CI/CD pipelines with robust security and observability.

Qualifications

• Several years of DevOps, platform engineering or SRE experience.
• Deep hands-on Kubernetes and OpenShift experience.
• Strong Terraform experience and IaC practices.
• Proficient CI/CD with modern pipelines.
• Experience with observability, metrics and SLOs.
• Experience in regulated environments or banking.
• Experience with Backstage or internal developer platforms.
• Certifications such as CKA/CKS, Red Hat or Terraform Associate.

Responsibilities

• Builds and runs Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms with cluster config, upgrades, capacity and security.
• Writes Terraform modules and environments across cloud and platform resources.
• Develops and improves the internal developer platform (Backstage, templates, plugins).
• Designs CI/CD pipelines with automated tests, security scanning and deployment strategies.
• Implements observability with metrics, logging and alerting, defines SLOs.
• Takes a product mindset to the platform, driving adoption and usability.
• Mentors junior engineers and participates in on-call rotations.
