Job summary

ARM in Manchester is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer for a 12-month contract (Inside IR35) with market-rate compensation. The role is Manchester-based with hybrid working requiring 2-3 days onsite and sits in the banking sector.

You will own the design and operation of Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms, lead Terraform standardisation, and drive the evolution of the internal developer platform (Backstage, templates, plugins).

Qualifications

• Extensive DevOps, platform engineering or SRE experience in production environments.
• Hands-on Kubernetes or OpenShift expertise with Terraform and continuous delivery.
• Proven ability to design observability, SLOs and runbook automation for reliability.

Responsibilities

• Designs architecture for Kubernetes/OpenShift platforms across core banking systems.
• Sets Terraform standards, state strategy and policy checks for auditable changes.
• Leads Backstage and internal developer platform roadmap and adoption.
• Designs CI/CD and GitOps patterns ensuring secure, reliable releases.
• Drives major incident resolution and follow-up improvements.
• Mentors engineers and collaborates with risk, audit and security teams.
