Job summary

Overdales Legal, part of Lowell Group, is hiring a Debt Collection Negotiator in Leeds on a hybrid basis. You will handle inbound/outbound calls, assess accounts, and craft fair repayment plans while negotiating settlements and spotting vulnerable situations to offer appropriate support.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong listening and empathy.
• Strong time management and organisational abilities, able to prioritise effectively.
• Team player with the ability to collaborate and contribute in a supportive environment.
• Self-motivated and proactive, capable of working independently without supervision.
• High attention to detail and accuracy, maintaining consistently high work standards.
• Previous experience in debt recovery is preferred but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Speak with customers over the phone - inbound and outbound - gathering information to help create realistic and fair repayment plans.
• Negotiate settlements and identify vulnerable situations to provide the right support.
• Review and update account records, reach out to businesses to find contacts, and verify company details online.
• Handle messages and correspondence via email, SMS, and post, including cases involving Debt Management Companies.
• Follow processes with attention to detail; work as part of a supportive team.
