Job summary

Sweco UK Ltd is seeking a Contract Manager/Senior Quantity Surveyor to oversee commercial operations for our Infrastructure & Environment division. You will manage contract governance, change control, and commercial risk across projects, coordinating with project teams and clients.

The role requires NEC3/NEC4 knowledge, strong communication, and UK travel. Flexible hybrid work with several days per week in the office is available. Relevant professional membership is preferred.

Qualifications

• Several years’ experience in a similar commercial/contracts management role.
• Experience in highways or energy sectors preferable.
• Degree in commercial management, quantity surveying, business, or equivalent.
• Good working knowledge of forms of contracts in engineering/construction.
• Detailed knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4, especially change, payment and programme.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Willingness to travel occasionally (1–2 nights monthly) across the UK.
• Membership with a UK recognised professional body (RICS, CICES, CIPS, etc).

Responsibilities

• Contract Administration: ensure Sweco staff engage with clients and supply chain per contract terms.
• Contractor/Subcontract Governance: manage supply chain and client relations with escalation for issues.
• Business Winning: provide governance guidance and lead contract negotiations.
• Commercial lead on key projects and frameworks.
• Lead or support change, risk, payment and programme functions.
• Auditing: conduct commercial audits and report findings.
• Financial Control & Reporting: analyse project cashflow, costs and profitability.
• Procurement: respond to procurement requests and let contracts per programme.
• Deliver training on key topics and develop guidance notes.
• Develop Sweco processes to maximise efficiency.
