Job summary

SSE plc is seeking a Cloud Engineer to join the central Cloud Engineering team. You will contribute to design and delivery of cloud services, drive infrastructure enhancements, and develop automation patterns to empower transformation across SSE’s cloud platforms.

The role focuses on the core cloud platform, enabling projects across services and cloud platforms, with 50% location in Reading or Havant and flexible, full-time work patterns.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS or Azure cloud environments.
• Knowledge of cloud native architectures and patterns.
• Familiarity with operating systems (Windows/Linux).
• Understanding of SDLC and ability to write code in at least one language (Python/Go/Java).
• Experience with IaC (Terraform) or config management (Ansible/Puppet).
• Exposure to CI/CD tools (GitHub/GitLab/Azure DevOps).

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design and delivery of cloud services.
• Develop automation, self-service and deployment frameworks.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering delivery and operations.
• Help stakeholders adopt cloud-native architecture patterns for scalable solutions.
• Ensure architecture and infrastructure align with security and lifecycle standards.
