Job summary

The University of Sheffield is seeking a Project Engineer for Automation based at AMRC North West, with a hands-on role in designing and integrating robotic equipment across aerospace, automotive, and battery pack assembly projects. You will lead system design, installation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to deliver robust automated solutions.

Qualifications

• Have a good honours degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent experience).
• Experience with programming robotic arm manipulators.
• Experience with CAD software.
• Experience in performing experimental work.
• Effective communication skills to present to customers and staff.
• Ability to coordinate resources and plan work with mentorship.

Responsibilities

• System design and physical integration/installation of robotic equipment in bespoke cells.
• Provide guidance and technical advice for programming and integration of software/hardware.
• Assist with delivery of research projects ensuring costs, requirements and feasibility are met.
• Coordinate with industrial collaborators and suppliers.
• Report project deliverables, written and verbal.
• Ensure processes comply with AMRC quality standards.
• Supply support for other staff as needed.
• Investigate novel technologies and apply to industry problems.
• Project management including tracking actions and liaising with partners.
• Sourcing and purchasing project equipment.
• Provide temporary assistance for other projects to ensure timely completion.
• Carry out other duties commensurate with grade.
