Job summary

Technical Placements Ltd in the UK defence engineering sector is seeking an Automation Engineer to develop and implement automated welding and assembly solutions across complex manufacturing operations. You will identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality and repeatability, taking projects from concept through equipment specification, installation and production.

The role involves robot programming, PLC/HMI troubleshooting, process optimisation and continuous improvement, with strong

Qualifications

HND/HNC or Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Mechatronics or related discipline.
Experience with industrial automation in manufacturing.
Experience programming industrial robots and PLCs.
Experience commissioning and integrating automated equipment.
Lean Manufacturing & continuous improvement experience.

Responsibilities

Identify opportunities to introduce automation across hull welding and bridge fabrication.
Develop specifications for robotic welding cells and automated material handling systems.
Lead installation, commissioning and SAT of new automated equipment.
Develop robot programmes and optimise for production efficiency.
Support cost-benefit and ROI analyses for capital investments.
