Job summary

Allied Bakeries, part of Associated British Foods, invites an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead AP teams from its Liverpool-based Shared Service Centre. You will oversee supplier payments, ensure accuracy, control and timely processing while driving continuous improvements in AP processes.

You will report to the Group AP Manager and partner with stakeholders to resolve issues, maintain controls, and support wider process enhancements.

Qualifications

• Experience of managing an Accounts Payable team, ideally in shared services or high-volume environments.
• Expert knowledge of AP activities: purchase orders, three-way matching, non-PO invoices, supplier queries, payment runs, international and BACS processing.
• Proven ability to improve team performance via KPI management, problem solving, process standardisation and continuous improvement.
• People leadership: coaching, objective setting, colleague development and fair performance management.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills with data-driven decision making.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day delivery of assigned AP teams and processes.
• Manage workloads, priorities, service levels and deadlines.
• Monitor KPIs and improve productivity, accuracy, query resolution and on-time payments.
• Resolve complex supplier and stakeholder queries, acting as the first management escalation point and escalate material risks when required.
• Coach and develop colleagues through clear objectives, feedback and regular one-to-ones, managing attendance and performance fairly and consistently.
• Use performance data, colleague feedback and root-cause analysis to standardise processes and deliver measurable improvements.
• Maintain accurate procedures, controls documentation and audit evidence.
• Support business change, training and consistent ways of working across AP.
• Ensure compliance with data protection, prompt payment, fraud-prevention requirements and the ABF Financial Control Framework.
