Job summary

National Grid is seeking an HVDC Protection and Control Engineer to help shape the protection and control systems across its major infrastructure projects, including LionLink. You will work with industry partners to ensure systems meet GB Grid Code requirements and project specifications.

You will collaborate with OEMs, review designs and studies, participate in testing, commissioning and installation activities, and contribute to tender evaluations and future technology selections.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Genuine interest in power transmission or major infrastructure projects.
• Ability to analyse technical information and communicate with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support specification, design assurance and delivery of protection and control systems across major infrastructure projects.
• Work with OEMs to demonstrate GB Grid Code compliance with National Grid standards and project specs.
• Review designs, studies, reports and proposals, helping to resolve engineering challenges throughout project delivery.
• Support critical interfaces across converter technology, grid connection, cable, civil and wider project teams.
• Participate in factory acceptance testing, site testing, commissioning and installation support activities.
• Contribute technical expertise to tender evaluations and future technology selections.
