Job summary

National Grid Ventures (NGV) is seeking an HVDC Protection and Control Engineer to shape protection and control systems for flagship converter stations and interconnectors. You’ll work on high-profile projects, collaborating with industry partners to deliver reliable energy infrastructure for the net-zero transition.

In this role you will specify, design, verify and deliver protection and control solutions, coordinating with OEMs and project teams.

Qualifications

A degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Control Systems or related discipline.
Knowledge of HVDC technology, protection and control systems desired.
Strong analytical and communication skills across stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Support specification, design assurance and delivery of protection and control systems across major projects.
Coordinate with OEMs to ensure GB Grid Code compliance and project specs.
Review designs, studies and proposals to resolve engineering challenges during delivery.
Assist interfaces across converter tech, grid connection, cables and civil works.
Participate in factory and site testing, commissioning and installation support.
Contribute to tender evaluations and future technology choices.
