Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to drive civil design and delivery for HVDC projects across Scotland, with 50% office time in locations including Aberdeen and Glasgow and travel to Highlands and Aberdeenshire.

You will lead civil design for capital projects (£200M–£2B), coordinate with engineers, manage safety in design, and support construction with onsite supervision and issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree required (CEng preferred or working towards)
• Experience using Infraworks, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks for design development and coordination
• Solid knowledge of industry standards, design codes and technical specifications
• Strong understanding of CDM regulations and on-site constructability
• Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly to senior management
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary project teams and willingness to learn other disciplines
• Interest in project development and delivery from concept to completion

Responsibilities

• Civil Engineering design and delivery on projects with typical value £200M–£2B.
• Provide technical input and coordinate with other disciplines for design delivery and risk mitigation.
• Promote and manage safety through CDM procedures and safety in design; act as Designer or Principal Designer under CDM.
• Define scope of civil design and validate/verify designs; provide site support during delivery including RFIs, TQs and PMIs.
• Collaborate with contractors, consultants and multi-disciplinary teams to develop robust design information for construction.
• Provide site supervision and resolve design/construction issues; close out non-conformances/quality issues during construction.
