JD Ross Energy is seeking a Tendering & Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of high voltage infrastructure up to 33kV. You will guide tendering and detailed design packs, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and network operators from feasibility through delivery.

Based in Scotland, you will own design packs, support cost estimation, and drive regulatory and safety compliance across projects within utility-scale networks and renewable connections.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or HNC/HND (HV design experience)
• Minimum three years' experience designing electrical infrastructure at 33kV or above
• Proven expertise in substation design, protection and control, earthing design, and auxiliary systems
• Strong knowledge of HV plant including transformers, switchgear, CTs, VTs, etc.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and HV design documentation
• Experience with DNOs and IDNOs on design submissions and approvals
• Strong understanding of ENA, BS, IEC, and utility standards
• Full UK Driving Licence

Responsabilités

• Lead HV substation design including layouts, protection and control, earthing and auxiliaries
• Produce designs and tender submissions for new connections and HV works
• Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for extensions and reinforcements
• Create detailed drawings (single-line diagrams, schematics, general arrangements, wiring) using AutoCAD
• Coordinate with civil/structural teams for integrated designs
• Liaise with DNOs/IDNOs to secure approvals and standards compliance
• Prepare BOQs and support cost estimation
• Compile construction design packs with internal and external inputs
• Identify and mitigate risks across design, construction, operation, and decommissioning
• Support client meetings, design reviews and tender evaluations
• Ensure designs comply with health, safety, quality, environmental and regulatory requirements
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and grid requirements
