Job summary

Net Zero Evolution is seeking a lead electrical design engineer to own 33kV substations from tender to construction on renewables projects across the UK. The role is remote with occasional travel to our HQ in Scotland and other UK offices.

You will shape substations, protection schemes and cable routes, manage tender submissions, and ensure designs meet ENA/BS/IEC and DNO standards. A degree in Electrical Power Engineering and 3+ years in HV design are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent HV design experience.
• 3+ years in 33kV or higher design.
• Substation, protection, earthing experience.
• Strong AutoCAD skills.
• UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design: layout, protection and control, earthing and auxiliary systems.
• Produce tender submissions for connections and electrical infrastructure around them.
• Run site assessments and feasibility studies for network extensions and reinforcements.
• Draw SLDs, GA layouts, schematics and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD.
• Prepare BOQs and cost estimates, then build construction design packs for delivery.
• Keep designs to ENA, BS, IEC and DNO standards, and manage risk across asset life.
