Job summary

Net Zero Evolution is seeking an HV Tendering and Design Engineer to own the design from tender to construction on renewables projects connecting clean power to the grid. You’ll lead substation design, protection schemes and cable routes for 33kV connections.

This remote role requires 3+ years HV design, an electrical degree, AutoCAD proficiency and a UK driving licence. You’ll interact with DNOs/IDNOs and deliver compliant submissions, with travel to the HQ in Scotland and other UK offices.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Power Engineering or HNC/HND with HV design experience
• 3+ years in 33kV or higher design
• Experience with substation, protection, earthing and auxiliary systems
• UK driving licence and ability to travel
• CEng or working towards it
• Experience in ICP/utility contractor environments

Responsibilities

• Lead substation design: layout, protection and control, earthing and auxiliary systems
• Produce tender submissions for connections and the electrical infrastructure around them
• Run site assessments and feasibility studies for network extensions and reinforcements
• Draw SLDs, GA layouts, schematics and wiring diagrams in AutoCAD
• Prepare BOQs and cost estimates, then build construction design packs for delivery
• Keep every design to ENA, BS, IEC and DNO standards, and remove risk across the asset’s whole life

£60,000 to £80,000 plus car allowance and strong benefits

Remote, with occasional travel to HQ in Scotland and other UK offices

You know how to get a 33kV design right. Now imagine owning it from the first tender submission to the final construction pack, on renewables projects that connect clean power to the grid.

This is a lead design role, not a seat at the back of the drawing office. You’ll shape the substations, the protection schemes and the cable routes, and you’ll see them built.

About you

• Proven substation, protection, earthing and auxiliary systems experience
• Strong AutoCAD
• Solid knowledge of HV plant
• Design submissions approved by DNOs/IDNOs
• A full UK driving licence
• Protection studies and earthing reports
• CEng or working towards it
• Experience in an ICP, utility contractor or IDNO environment
