Job summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our HV Substation Design team in the UK or Ireland. You’ll contribute to a varied portfolio, assist in layouts, and help develop specifications for HV equipment while gaining mentorship from senior engineers in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates will have a degree in Electrical Engineering, exposure to HV projects, and the ability to manage multiple assignments across projects with strong English communication.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Some experience working on HV projects.
• Some experience working as a designer or project engineer.
• Experience developing specifications for substation control systems, transformers, GIS, and AIS switchgear.
• Ability to work flexibly across multiple projects.
• Fluency in English.
• Some exposure to technical report writing.
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Assist with producing primary plant layouts for HV substations.
• Support with the production of equipment specifications for HV plant and related equipment.
• Provide engineering design input to major infrastructure projects.
• Support projects in the Owners’ Engineer capacity on HV substation/cable and OHL projects.
• Provide HV design input to renewable energy projects (battery storage, solar, hydro, wind).
• Gain mentorship from experienced engineers within a collaborative team.
