Job summary

Powersystems is hiring a HV Cable Jointer to install, join and terminate HV cables for renewable energy projects across the UK. You will work hands-on from 11kV/33kV stages and support commissioning with a focus on safety and high standards.

The role requires ECS/JIB, site experience, and a driving licence, with opportunities for overtime, travel, and career progression.

Qualifications

• JIB approved ECS card and safe working on construction sites.
• Practical experience with cable preparation, installation and joints.
• Experience performing 33kV terminations in electrical projects.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cable preparation, installation, terminations and joints at 11kV/33kV and above.
• Support electricians on larger installations, including earthing and site works.
• Take Installation Lead responsibility reporting to Site/Project Manager.
• Assist testing, commissioning and energisation activities.
• Mentor junior staff and apprentices on workmanship and tidiness.
• Uphold Powersystems’ Health, Safety and Wellbeing standards.

What You’ll Do

As an HV Cable Jointer, you’ll:

• Carry out cable preparation, installation, terminations and joints at 11kV, 33kV, and above on renewable energy and electrical infrastructure projects
• Support electricians and other trades on larger installations, including earthing and associated site activities
• Take responsibility as Installation Lead on relevant projects, reporting into the Site Manager and Project Manager on progress and safe delivery
• Assist SAPs and Commissioning Engineers with cable testing, commissioning and energisation activities during project delivery
• Mentor less experienced staff and apprentices, helping develop their skills while maintaining high standards of workmanship and tidiness
• Champion Powersystems’ 5 P’s of Priority No.1 Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Pride, Professionalism, Partnership, and Proactive

What We’re Looking For – Cable Jointing / HV Installation

• JIB approved ECS card and experience working safely on construction sites
• Strong practical experience in cable preparation, installation, containment, earthing and associated HV site works
• Experience of carrying out cable terminations / joints at 33kV within the electrical power, commercial or industrial sector
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Jointer with a clear understanding of site standards and safe systems of work
• Able to plan ahead, follow business processes and manage multiple time‑pressured tasks while maintaining quality and tidiness
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail and a proactive, team‑focused approach to problem solving on site
• Full UK driving licence, Right to Work in the UK, and flexibility to travel and stay away regularly for project work
