Job summary

The Education Network Birmingham, in partnership with a specialist Alternative Provision in Dudley, is seeking a dedicated Humanities Teacher for a long-term supply position.

You will teach Humanities across Key Stage 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons in History, Geography and related topics, with some English cover when planned. You will be supported by an experienced team in a setting with smaller class sizes that prioritise individual progress.

Qualifications

• QTS is required.
• Experience teaching Humanities at GCSE.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach Humanities to KS3 and KS4.
• Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons.
• Support students with SEMH needs and barriers to learning.

Humanities Teacher – Alternative Provision

Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to young people who may have faced barriers to learning? The Education Network Birmingham is working in partnership with a specialist Alternative Provision in Dudley to recruit a dedicated Humanities Teacher for a long-term supply position.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys building positive relationships with students and creating engaging lessons that help young people reconnect with education. The school provides a structured and supportive environment for students who may have struggled in mainstream education, with a strong focus on individual progress, behaviour and personal development.

You will teach Humanities across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering accessible and engaging lessons in subjects such as History, Geography and related Humanities topics. There is also a requirement to cover some English lessons where the lessons have already been planned. You will be supported by an experienced team and benefit from a setting where smaller class sizes allow you to really get to know your students and tailor your teaching to your needs.

The Role

• Teaching Humanities to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
• Planning and delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons
• Supporting students who may have SEMH needs and barriers to learning
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students
• Managing behaviour calmly, consistently and effectively
• Encouraging students to re-engage with education and develop confidence

The Successful Candidate Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Experience teaching Humanities at GCSE
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• The ability to engage students who may have become disengaged from mainstream education
• A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• Previous experience within Alternative Provision, SEMH or SEND would be advantageous
