Job description

As a Humanities Teacher in Dudley, you will deliver engaging lessons across the curriculum to students within a specialist Alternative Provision. This full-time, long-term supply role involves supporting young people who have faced barriers to mainstream schooling, helping them rebuild confidence and achieve personal progress. Working with The Education Network Birmingham, you will create structured learning experiences that foster positive relationships and address individual needs. The daily salary ranges from £174 to £240. Humanities Teacher – Alternative Provision

Are you a passionate Humanities Teacher looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to young people who may have faced barriers to learning?

The Education Network Birmingham is working in partnership with a specialist Alternative Provision in Dudley to recruit a dedicated Humanities Teacher for a long-term supply position. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys building positive relationships with students and creating engaging lessons that help young people reconnect with education. The school provides a structured and supportive environment for students who may have struggled in mainstream education, with a strong focus on individual progress, behaviour and personal development.

You will teach Humanities across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering accessible and engaging lessons in subjects such as History, Geography and related Humanities topics. There is also a requirement to cover some English lessons where the lessons have already been planned. You will be supported by an experienced team and benefit from a setting where smaller class sizes allow you to really get to know your students and tailor your teaching to their needs.

The Role
  • Teaching Humanities to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students
  • Planning and delivering engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons
  • Supporting students who may have SEMH needs and barriers to learning

The Successful Candidate Will Have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching Humanities at GCSE
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
  • The ability to engage students who may have become disengaged from mainstream education
  • A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Previous experience within Alternative Provision, SEMH or SEND would be advantageous
