Job summary

YMCA Cheltenham is seeking a part-time HR Advisor to join a small, supportive HR team in Cheltenham. The role focuses on employee relations, attendance and performance management, working closely with managers to apply policies fairly and legally.

You will bring Level 4 HR qualifications (or CIPD progress), be a CIPD member, and have proven HR advisory experience with strong knowledge of UK employment law. 30 hours per week, permanent contract, with a friendly, high-performing team and benefits.

Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys providing practical advice, building trusted relationships and helping managers navigate complex people matters?

We are looking for a proactive and people-centred HR Advisor to join a small and supportive HR team in Cheltenham reporting into the Head of HR.

Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

This is a varied generalist role with a particular focus on employee relations, attendance and performance management. You will work closely with managers and employees across the organisation, providing professional and customer-focused HR advice while helping to ensure our policies and processes are applied fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation and good practice.

About You

You will be a confident HR professional who can balance sound judgement with a supportive and solutions-focused approach.

You will have:

• A minimum Level 4 HR qualification, or be working towards a relevant CIPD qualification.
• Member of the HR body called CIPD.
• Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development.
• Experience working as an HR Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Practical experience of providing generalist HR advice and supporting employee relations cases.
• Experience of disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance processes.
• Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR good practice.
• Experience of using HR information systems and Microsoft 365.
