YMCA Cheltenham seeks a part-time HR Advisor to join a small, supportive HR team in Cheltenham, hybrid working. The role focuses on employee relations, attendance, and performance management, advising managers and staff with practical, customer-focused guidance.

You will balance sound judgement with a supportive, solutions-focused approach, and bring a Level 4 HR qualification (or CIPD) and UK employment law knowledge to the team. Proactive CPD and HRIS/MS365 experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 4 HR qualification or working towards CIPD.
• Member of CIPD or working towards membership.
• Evidence of CPD (continuous professional development).
• Experience as HR Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Experience using HR information systems and Microsoft 365.

HR Advisor

Are you an experienced HR professional who enjoys providing practical advice, building trusted relationships and helping managers navigate complex people matters

We are looking for a proactive and people-centred HR Advisor to join a small and supportive HR team in Cheltenham reporting into the Head of HR.

Position: HR Advisor

Location: Cheltenham/Hybrid

Hours: Part-time, 30 hours per week

Salary: £33,501 per annum pro rata (£26,801 actual)

Contract: Permanent

This is a varied generalist role with a particular focus on employee relations, attendance and performance management. You will work closely with managers and employees across the organisation, providing professional and customer-focused HR advice while helping to ensure our policies and processes are applied fairly, consistently and in line with employment legislation and good practice.

About You

You will be a confident HR professional who can balance sound judgement with a supportive and solutions-focused approach.

You will have:

• A minimum Level 4 HR qualification, or be working towards a relevant CIPD qualification.
• Member of the HR body called CIPD.
• Evidence of relevant Continuous Professional Development.
• Experience working as an HR Advisor.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Practical experience of providing generalist HR advice and supporting employee relations cases.
• Experience of disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance processes.
• Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR good practice.
• Experience of using HR information systems and Microsoft 365.
