St Peter’s School in York is seeking an HR Administrator to join our HR department. The role is hands-on and requires you to be highly organised, capable of prioritising a busy workload and communicating effectively at all levels.
You will support safer recruitment and contract preparation and work with the HR team across the school’s ~400 staff. The department is undergoing change, and there may be opportunities to contribute to more professional HR work.
Responsible to: Human Resources Business Partner
Hours of work: Term time (34 weeks) – 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday 8.30 to 4.30 with half an hour unpaid lunch.
School Holidays (18 weeks) – 30 hours per week. Monday to Friday 9.00 to 3.30 with half an hour unpaid lunch.
Some flexibility can be offered on start/finish times.

Overall purpose of the post:
We are looking to appoint a HR Administrator to our HR department. The successful candidate will need to be organised, effective at prioritising their workload and have excellent inter-personal skills with the ability to communicate effective at all levels. Although desirable, it is not essential that the successful candidate has HR experience although candidates must be experienced and effective administrators.
The HR department consists of the Head of HR, HR Business Partner and HR Administrator. The department provides a full HR service to c400 staff across both the Junior and Senior Schools. HR is a busy department, and we are supporting the school through a period of significant change. This is a hands-on, operational role whose support will be vital in maintaining an effective HR service. The role holder will carry out a range of HR duties, including those related to safer recruitment and contract preparation. There may be opportunities for the right candidate to be involved in the more professional aspects of HR work.
