Job summary

Thompsons Group Ltd is seeking an HSEQ Manager to lead health, safety, environmental and quality initiatives across head office and sites. You will own Integrated Management Systems, ensure legal compliance, and drive a proactive safety culture.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will develop risk assessments, audits, and ESG activities while supporting operational teams and tender readiness.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH certificate or diploma is essential.
• Proven experience in a HSEQ role within environmental, construction or allied industries.
• Auditing experience and implementing ISO standards.
• Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation.

Responsibilities

• Drive a proactive HSEQ culture and ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation (Act, CDM 2015, COSHH, RIDDOR).
• Maintain and improve ISO management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and SSIP schemes.
• Lead internal and site audits, maintain and develop risk assessments and method statements.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and statutory reporting.
• Deliver HSEQ training and provide documentation for PQQs and tender submissions.
• Assist with development and delivery of the company ESG strategy.

What we’re looking for: As the HSEQ Manager, you will act as the competent person for all health, safety, environmental, and quality matters. Reporting to the Technical Director you will take ownership of our Integrated Management Systems, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and ISO standards, while supporting operational teams across office and site environments.

Certifications: NEBOSH Certificate or Diploma (General) is essential

Experience: Proven experience in a HSEQ role within the environmental, construction or allied industries.

Auditing: Practical experience auditing and implementing ISO standards.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation.

Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.

What you’ll do:

As HSEQ Manager, you’ll be at the heart of our business and a proactive part of the team. You will be based at our head office but will also undertake site visits as required. Your responsibilities will include:

Driving a proactive HSEQ culture and ensuring compliance with UK H&S legislation (e.g., Health & Safety at Work Act, CDM 2015, COSHH, RIDDOR)

Maintaining and improving ISO management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and SSIP schemes

Leading internal and site audits, maintaining and developing risk assessments and method statements

Overseeing incident investigations, root cause analysis, and statutory reporting
