Job summary

HSE Recruitment is seeking an HSE Manager to lead safety operations at a global manufacturing site in Birmingham, Aston. This permanent role offers a salary between £60,000 and £65,000 per annum and requires driving a zero-harm culture across the organization.

You will oversee environmental requirements, emergency management, CAPEX projects and fire risk prevention strategies while reporting to the Plant Director and coordinating with international teams.

Job Overview

HSE Recruitment is seeking an HSE Manager to lead safety operations at a global manufacturing site in Birmingham, Aston. This permanent, full-time position offers a salary between £60,000 and £65,000 per annum. The role involves overseeing a demanding, high-risk environment where consistent performance is expected.

Job Background

You will succeed a long-standing manager who, with visible leadership, drove a zero-harm culture over the past decade. You will take over from a long standing HSE Manager who has been an integral part of driving culture change with a zero harm agenda. There is visible health and safety leadership across the board, with all areas of the business taking accountability. No two days are the same here; whether it is dealing with environmental requirements, emergency management, ongoing CAPEX projects or fire risk prevention strategies.

HSE Manager Responsibilities

• Manage one early-career direct report, providing mentorship to develop their potential, and addressing varied daily challenges, including environmental matters.
• Demonstrate resilience, strong leadership, and maintain accountability across all business functions.
• Work within a matrix structure, driving high standards of health and safety compliance across the site.
• Report day to day into the Plant Director.
• Work closely with a European HSE Manager and the American parent company.
• Coordinate ongoing CAPEX projects, fire risk prevention strategies, emergency management, and environmental requirements.

Requirements

• Experience developing, nurturing and training an advisor Diploma level qualification in Health & Safety.
• Demonstrable leadership capabilities within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Confident, assertive, tenacious and challenge behaviours, can deal with push back.
• Good under pressure and being held accountable.

Work Conditions

This is a site-based role with core hours Monday-Friday 8:30-4:30.
