Provide expert leadership and advice in safety, health, environmental, and risk management measures across the activities of the group, ensuring “Best in Class” environmental and health and safety standards are met and a continuously improving trend is established.
To create, establish, and drive strategy, methodology, systems, processes, and personnel to achieve this.
To ensure continuous improvement by using expertise and methodologies, whilst maintaining KPI targets and high standards of Health, Safety & Environmental compliance and impact.
Key Responsibilities/Accountability
- Lead, develop, and embed a high-performing “Best in Class” health and safety culture in the organisation.
- Ensure there is a comprehensive health and safety learning plan for staff and management within the site(s) they are responsible for.
- Implement a health and safety reporting programme to allow management and staff to see the key areas of health and safety work and progress against key targets.
- Ensure that the organisation's health and safety policy is updated annually and effectively implemented across the organisation, acting as the responsible person, as specified in the policy.
- Support senior staff across the organisation to understand, mitigate, and manage risks associated with their business functions.
- Ensure routine health and safety checks are completed, results are collated, and actions are logged and monitored.
- Assist managers in maintaining safe systems by providing specialist advice, coaching, training, and practical support.
- Ensure induction training on health and safety and provide guidance, learning, and support to staff at all levels as appropriate.
- Lead, coordinate, and support routine health and safety checks, such as Fire Risk Assessments, Legionella Testing, Electrical inspections.
- Apply experience in change management with exceptional communication and conflict management skills to drive organizational changes.
- Demonstrate a strong sense of self-motivation and drive to accomplish goals.
- Adopt a collaborative and open-minded leadership style.
- Possess coaching and training skills.
- Hold environmental, risk management, and/or quality qualifications.
