Job description

Summary

Whilst working towards a qualification in Health & Safety, YASA is looking for an individual to work in the HSE team to assist in ensuring that YASA offers a safe working environment to all employees. You will be identifying areas of non-compliance or opportunities to reduce risk, creating solutions and advising on company policies, procedures, legal obligations, and supporting in developing training whilst coordinating HSE issues and raising awareness. This role will be for a 2-year fixed-term period while you are in the process of completing your qualification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting all internal HSE-related inquiries or requests.
  • Maintaining digital and electronic records of system H&S management.
  • Assisting certification preparation and audits (E.G. ISO14001).
  • Carrying out risk assessments.
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining KPIs to track and communicate company HSE performance.
  • Investigating accidents and incidents driving 8D investigations producing subsequent reports and recommendations.
  • Assisting the Head of Health & Safety to carry out site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
  • Interfacing with regulatory authorities and insurers on matters such as fire risk assessment and certification.
  • Assisting HSE training in areas such as the use of PPE, site induction, safe lifting, etc.
  • Any other duties as required.

To succeed in this role, we believe you'll need:

  • NEBOSH or IOSH L3 Certificate desirable or you might be an engineer with some exposure to HSE training and practice.
  • Experience of 5s and safety auditing.
  • Experience in conducting accident/incident 8D investigations.
  • Knowledge of UK HSE legislation.
  • Ability to understand industrial processes and analyze complex data.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal), good collaboration skills, and the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • To be able to travel across other YASA sites or suppliers when required.

Though not expected, it would be very beneficial if you have:

  • Experience working in health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
