Are you a passionate horticulturalist with a gift for helping others grow and succeed? Join our University Parks team at the University of Oxford and play a key role in developing and maintaining green spaces that support research, teaching, and administration.

Location: South Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3RF

Salary: £34,982- £40,855 per annum (pro-rata based on hours worked)

Contract: Variable hours, Fixed-Term Contract (18 months)

About the Role

As our Training and Development Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of horticultural professionals. You will manage and mentor apprentices, provide tailored training for University Parks staff, and ensure the safe and effective operation of our on-site nursery. You’ll work closely with the Operations Manager to design and deliver comprehensive training plans, support apprentices’ theoretical and practical learning, and embed a strong culture of health and safety across the department. This is an exciting opportunity to combine your passion for horticulture with leadership and teaching, helping to maintain Oxford’s renowned green spaces while growing the skills of our talented team.

About You
  • A recognised craft qualification or degree in horticulture (or equivalent experience).
  • Basic IT skills such as Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Significant professional experience in horticulture, with proven supervisory skills.
  • Strong organisational and mentoring skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
  • A thorough understanding of health and safety practices relevant to horticulture.
  • Full UK driving licence
