Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking an experienced HR Manager to join a Chelmsford school and oversee a broad range of HR activities, ensuring staff matters are handled fairly and in line with current legislation.

You will advise managers, improve processes, manage recruitment and onboarding, and coordinate appraisals, training and staff development, with safeguarding checks and DBS considerations.

Qualifications

• Experience in an HR Manager or senior HR advisory role.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR procedures.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Confidence handling sensitive conversations and confidential records.
• Experience within a school or regulated setting would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Manage recruitment and onboarding.
• Provide advice on employee relations, attendance and performance.
• Support disciplinary, grievance and capability procedures.
• Maintain HR records, policies and employment documentation.
• Coordinate appraisals, training and staff development.
• Monitor safer recruitment checks and HR compliance.
