Job description

Regional HR Manager – Barnsley / South Yorkshire – travel to Wales and South - £50,000 to £55,000 plus car allowance and excellent benefits

Your new company

This is a national leader in services to innovative and complex multi-disciplinary engineering, construction, and maintenance services.

Your new role

Reporting to the HR Director, you will join the Regional HR team as one of 4 HR Managers allocated to a region. Your role will be to create strong business partnering relationships with internal stakeholders, fully partnering with a geographical area and leading on the delivery of the People Plan through project management, change management, and people development activities. You will also take responsibility for the line management of one or more direct reports. You will:

  • Be seen as a leader in HR matters by key stakeholders and the leadership team, adding value through strong commercial awareness of the business environment both wider and local.
  • Lead the development and implementation of HR change projects.
  • Lead union negotiations, utilizing well-developed relationships.
  • Lead restructuring projects.
  • Drive the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda across all areas of responsibility by supporting and encouraging involvement.
  • Lead the development and embedding of new HR/business procedures or initiatives as necessary.
  • Promote understanding of talent management, including the use of succession management processes.
  • Lead key recruitment activities at a senior level.
  • Work with HR Business Partners and stakeholders to utilize HR Key Performance Indicators to develop programs that address issues like high absence and high labor turnover.
  • Participate as a key member of regional/business management teams and attend relevant meetings.
  • Define and lead occupational health programs.

This role is based at head office with regional site visits—approximately twice a month to Wales (overnight stay) and periodically to other locations—ideal for someone who enjoys multisite work. The role is busy and suited for someone who works at pace to provide a comprehensive HR service.

What you'll need to succeed
  • A solid background in operational HR support and strategic HR work.
  • Experience from construction, manufacturing, engineering, or similar industries.
  • Experience in fast-paced blue-collar environments.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Trade union experience is preferred.
