This is the job

We’re looking for a dynamic and commercially focused HR Business Partner to support the Customer Operations Managing Director and leadership team across a diverse workforce of 2,000+ employees. This is a high-impact, generalist role where you’ll shape and deliver strategic HR initiatives across multiple business areas spanning sites in Oldbury, Cheadle, Newcastle, Cardiff, and Basingstoke.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor and change agent, partnering with senior leaders to drive transformation, develop talent, and create a fantastic colleague experience for our customer service front line. Working closely with HR specialists, you’ll deliver pragmatic, business-aligned solutions while navigating complex people matters with confidence and care.

What will I be doing?
  • Build strong, trusted partnerships with business leaders to understand and shape current and future people priorities.
  • Lead the delivery of the people plan, ensuring alignment with both local business goals and the wider HR strategy.
  • Provide expert HR consultancy across a range of areas including reward, organisation design, employee relations, talent, change, engagement, TUPE, and learning.
  • Champion HR best practices and support leaders in maximising individual and team performance.
  • Use data-driven insights to inform decision-making and recommend improvements that enhance business outcomes.
  • Partner with leadership teams to influence thinking, challenge constructively, and identify opportunities to add value.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives that reduce attrition, strengthen engagement, and improve employee retention.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues to evolve policies and practices in line with business needs.
  • Foster open, proactive communication with employee representatives and union officials where appropriate.
What do I need?

Capability, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Proven experience in generalist HR Business Partner roles, ideally within a large, complex organisation.
  • Skilled at influencing and building trust with senior stakeholders to drive meaningful business change.
  • High emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate and resolve sensitive or complex issues.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR best practices and employment law, with a practical approach to partnering with leaders.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering HR initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Experience managing HR-related projects and working in fast-paced, evolving environments.
  • Confident communicator with excellent written, verbal, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with trade unions and building constructive relationships.
  • Familiarity with regulated environments (e.g., SMCR, FCA) is desirable.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance business, customer, employee, and brand priorities.

Education and Qualifications:
