The purpose of this role is to manage a number of HR activities for the business whilst also providing professional HR advice and support to managers and employees.
A focus on continuous improvement and efficiency, alongside strong customer service, is key and therefore the specifics of the role content may flex over the period of the contract. The job holder will support achievement of the desired organisational culture by role modelling desired behaviours.
The job holder works closely with other team members, currently the HR Manager (line manager) and the Senior HR Assistant.
- Champion and support continuous improvement in HR service delivery, seeking opportunities to review, streamline and automate processes to increase efficiency and customer experience.
- Leading on supporting delivery of the Employee Value Proposition through management of recruitment activity up to senior leader level, to ensure that the business secures the right candidates and that the candidate experience is consistent and positive.
- Acting as the primary point of contact for hiring managers, reviewing existing organisation design and job descriptions, advising on recruitment and selection strategies and providing training and coaching as required.
- Leading, managing, promoting and organising the annual Career Ready internship, apprenticeship programmes, and volunteering opportunities.
- Supporting the Senior HR Assistant in delivery of the regular HR service, advising and coaching where appropriate, to ensure that a consistent and efficient customer experience is delivered.
- Advising, guiding and coaching line managers on people-related queries and the interpretation of HR policies (including employee relations, performance management, talent management, health and wellbeing), being supported by the HR Manager on the most complex or high-risk cases.
- Managing regular and timely reviews of all HR Policies and Procedures and contractual documentation, ensuring these are updated in line with current legislation and are fit for purpose, internal document management processes are followed, and colleagues are informed appropriately.
- Managing job matching and benchmarking, and implementing the annual compensation review process, ensuring that data is submitted, reviewed, authorised and inputted to correct timelines, and that communications and changes are delivered appropriately and accurately.
- Leading or supporting as required on employee engagement activities, including staff surveys, action planning, line manager training and communications.
- Working with the HR Manager as required to drive forward strategic initiatives and projects, in areas such as organisational design and job descriptions, performance management, line manager capability, learning & development, compensation and benefits, health and wellbeing.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Member of the CIPD, at Foundation level or above, or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and skills.
- Relevant experience gained in an HR role, including recruitment and selection experience within a professional services setting.
- Ideally – a sound understanding of the HR-related requirements of the SMCR, gained within a financial services environment
- Skills in carrying out job evaluation, and ideally experience of Willis Towers Watson methodology.
- Demonstrable and successful project delivery experience (a qualification or formal training in project management is not required)
- Experience having effectively used and administered an HR system
- Excellent interpersonal skills with strong communication and relationship building capabilities across all levels of the business
- Ability to work independently and accurately, apply judgement and make decisions.
- Excellent organisation, planning and administrative skills and able to work collaboratively and efficiently, prioritising as required
- Strong IT skills especially confident using Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Discretion is required as this role will deal with highly confidential information
