Job summary

Howdens Joinery is seeking an HR Advisor to join the Raunds operation on a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will report to the HR Business Partner and act as a trusted advisor to managers, delivering coaching and support on people matters across a large, 24-hour site.

You will lead employee relations, partner with Trade Union representatives, analyse people data to inform decisions, and drive improvements while supporting HR projects and change initiatives with other HR teams.

Qualifications

• Generalist HR Advisor or HR Business Partnering role in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Significant employee relations experience, including managing complex cases.
• Experience working in a unionised environment with TU engagement.
• Strong knowledge of HR best practice and current employment legislation.
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience supporting manufacturing, warehousing, logistics or distribution operations advantageous.
• Degree-educated or equivalent business-related qualification.
• Working towards CIPD membership.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret people data and inform decisions.
• Advanced IT skills: Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Able to balance multiple priorities and travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operational leaders to deliver people-centered solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Provide expert advice on employee relations and ensure compliance with policies and employment law.
• Build and maintain relationships with Trade Union representatives to foster a constructive ER climate.
• Analyse people data and trends to inform decision-making and identify improvements.
• Influence and challenge stakeholders to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Support organisational change, engagement initiatives and HR projects across sites.
• Collaborate with Recruitment, Learning & Development and Employee Relations teams to deliver a high-quality HR service.
