Job description

HR Advisor

Newark | Temporary to Permanent | Full or Part Time

We're looking for a hands-on HR Advisor to join a People team in Newark on an immediate basis.

This is a temporary-to-permanent opportunity, created through a combination of increased workload and maternity cover, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right person.

And the best bit? This role can work around you.

Whether you're looking for full-time hours or something around 3 or 4 days a week, the company is happy to discuss a working pattern that works for you. School-hours arrangements can also be considered, provided you're able to be office-based for at least three days per week.

This is a genuinely varied HR Advisor position where you'll have ownership of your own workload and be trusted to get on with things.

You'll work closely with managers and the wider People team, providing practical HR advice and supporting a range of employee relations, projects and people activity.

You'll be involved in:

  • Managing your own HR workload and employee relations cases
  • Advising managers on disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters
  • Supporting redundancy processes and wider organisational change
  • Providing advice and support around TUPE
  • Reviewing, updating and improving HR policies and procedures
  • Supporting ongoing and future people projects
  • Maintaining accurate HR records and producing reports
  • Using Excel, HR systems and reporting tools to analyse and present people data
  • Supporting the wider People team with day-to-day HR activity
  • Working alongside managers to provide practical, commercially focused HR advice

There is currently a live TUPE project, although this is expected to complete shortly. There will be further TUPE and redundancy-related work coming through, so it's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and getting stuck into projects.

Who are we looking for?

You don't need to be a senior HR professional.

We're looking for someone who is a solid, confident HR Advisor who can manage their own workload, deal with people confidently and isn't afraid to roll their sleeves up and get involved.

You might be someone who has worked in a standalone HR role or within a smaller business, where you've had to be involved in a bit of everything rather than having a specialist team around you.

You'll ideally have:

  • Previous HR Advisor or broad HR experience
  • Good practical knowledge of Employee Relations
  • Working knowledge of TUPE
  • Experience supporting disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance processes
  • Confidence advising managers
  • Experience reviewing and updating HR policies
  • Good Excel skills and confidence working with reports and data
  • Experience using HR systems
  • A proactive, organised approach
  • The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

We're particularly interested in people who have worked in SME or standalone HR environments, rather than someone whose experience has been purely within a large corporate or public-sector structure.

Why join?

This is a business that genuinely invests in its people, with a friendly and supportive environment and a range of onsite benefits, including:

  • Onsite gym
  • Free onsite parking
  • Competitive holiday allowance
  • Company pension
  • Employee wellbeing support
  • A range of employee benefits and discounts
  • Opportunities for development and progression
  • A supportive People team
  • Flexible working options around the right candidate

This role is moving quickly

The team needs someone as soon as possible, so if you're an experienced HR Advisor who is available now or can move quickly, we'd love to hear from you.

If you're looking for a role where you can use your HR experience, have genuine ownership of your work and enjoy the flexibility of a part-time or school-friendly working pattern, this could be a really good fit.
