Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd. is seeking a People & Culture Advisor to provide first-line HR guidance to managers and staff in a busy UK operation. You will support strategic advice and handle employee relations matters across group businesses from Cullompton.

Ideal candidates will have Level 3 CIPD and at least 2 years in HR, with strong time management, confidentiality, and communication skills. The role offers standard hours and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line professional advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and employee relations.
  • Support managers with absence management, AWOL, disciplinary and grievance matters.
  • Signpost and transfer employees to other People & Culture services as appropriate.
  • Update and maintain the People & Culture intranet page.
  • Assist with investigations and fact-finding activities as required.
  • Escalate complex cases to the People and Culture Business Partners when appropriate.
  • Support managers in managing long-term and short-term absence cases.
  • Assist with occupational health referrals where required.
  • Support implementation and communication of People & Culture policies and procedures.
  • Support wider People & Culture initiatives and TUPE activities.
  • Produce HR Management Information.
  • Contribute to process and system improvements.

Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic People & Culture Advisor to join our team. You will be responsible for providing first line support to our managers and employees. Supporting our People & Culture Business Team to deliver strategic, professional advice and guidance to our group businesses on all employee relations matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide initial first-line professional advice and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employee relations matters.
  • Support managers with absence management, Absent With Out Leave (AWOL), disciplinary and grievance matters.
  • Signpost and transfer employees to other People Culture services where appropriate (ie Talent, People Services Admin, Learning and Development & Payroll, etc).
  • Update and maintain our People & Culture intranet page.
  • Assist with investigations and fact-finding activities as required.
  • Have a proactive and collaborative approach, working with other People & Culture colleagues to ensure timely and professional delivery. Escalating complex cases to the People and Culture Business Partners where appropriate.
  • Support managers in managing long-term and short-term absence cases.
  • Assist with occupational health referrals where required.
  • Support the implementation and communication of People & Culture policies and procedures.
  • Support wider People & Culture initiatives and project, including redundancy, consulted changes and TUPE activities.
  • Production of HR Management Information.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of People & Culture processes and systems.
  • Responsibility for document/version control for policies & procedures.
  • Communication with key stakeholders.
  • Support and work with the Learning and Development team to upskill line managers in People & Culture processes.
Requirements
  • Level 3 CIPD and a minimum of 2 years previous experience in Human Resources.
  • Effective Time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A strong respect for confidentiality.
  • Resilience to provide robust guidance and escalation when required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
