Job summary

Empower Family Group in Taunton is seeking an experienced HR Advisor with a strong Employee Relations background to join our growing HR team. This part-time role offers flexible hours within our 8:30am to 4:30pm operating window and potential hour adjustments during school holidays.

You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, handle disciplinary, grievances, absence, and performance cases, support recruitment, training, and ensure lawful, fair people practices across the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Experienced HR professional with a solid generalist HR background.
  • Comfortable managing a range of employee relations cases.
  • Confident advising and influencing managers at all levels.
  • Knowledgeable in UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • Strong knowledge on the Employment Rights Act 2025 and changes surrounding
  • Organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities.
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • A full UK Driving Licence is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day HR matters and provide effective HR support across the business.
  • Take ownership of recruitment activities, supporting managers throughout the hiring process.
  • Manage employee relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinary matters, grievances, performance, and absence management.
  • Coach and support managers to build confidence and capability in people management.
  • Deliver and support training on HR policies, procedures and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of HR processes and ways of working.

Job Description

Hours: 22.5 - 32 hours

Part-time role with flexible hours available. Working hours can be agreed within our operating hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm , and we are willing to consider changes to hours during school holidays.

We are looking for an experienced HR Advisor with a strong Employee Relations background and are confident in managing complex ER cases independently to join our growing HR team. This is a new role to the company and you can make a real impact across the business.

As our new HR Advisor, you will act as a trusted advisor to managers, leading on a wide range of Employee Relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance, capability, and complex employee casework. You will play a key role in ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant people practices across the organisation.

As HR Advisor, you will act as a trusted partner to managers and employees, providing professional HR advice and suppo rt across the full employee lifecycle. You will work closely with the HR Officers, helping to drive best practice, support managers, and contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes and procedures.

What you'll be doing:
