HR Advisor - FMCG

MCS Group is recruiting an experienced HR Advisor for a leading FMCG organisation, on a 9-12month contract. This is a great opportunity to join an established business in a generalist HR role supporting a large, workforce.

The role

As HR Advisor, you'll support a wide range of employees across retail, distribution, and corporate teams, delivering proactive HR guidance within a centralised function. The role is ideal for someone with strong employment law knowledge and a practical, solutions-focused approach to people management.

The main responsibilities

• Advise and coach line managers on HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation, ensuring consistent application of best practice.
• Manage a range of employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and organisational change (e.g. TUPE, restructures, working practices).
• Support the development and delivery of management training initiatives in collaboration with L&D teams.
• Contribute to internal employee communication strategies and engagement activities.
• Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion, supporting the implementation of relevant policies and legislative requirements.
• Maintain accurate and insightful people data, including headcount, absence, and turnover, via HR systems.
• Support HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives as agreed with the People Services Manager.
• Empower managers through effective coaching to become confident, capable leaders.

The ideal candidate

• Experience in an HR generalist role within a similar industry.
• CIPD qualified (or currently working towards).
• Solid understanding of employment law and its practical application.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
