Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Housing Advice Officer to promote our vision and deliver housing services in Nottingham. You will help prevent homelessness, assist in the allocation and management of temporary and supported accommodation, and intervene on behalf of people facing homelessness.

The ideal candidate will have IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), be able to discuss complex issues face-to-face with tact and care, and understand homelessness and safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Practical knowledge of IT systems including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Ability to communicate complex issues on a face to face basis with tact and customer care.
• Understanding of homelessness and Housing Act 1996 to investigate duties owed to citizens.
• General safeguarding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Intervening on behalf of people facing homelessness
• Advocating to prevent homelessness occurring
• Administrating accommodation resources and keeping data records accurate
• Assisting inquiries under the Housing Act 1996 VII (as amended)
