Job summary

Target Housing in Doncaster is seeking a dedicated Housing Support Worker to assist residents in temporary accommodation towards independent living. You will assess referrals, develop person-centred plans, and coordinate with agencies to ensure tenancy rights and safety compliance.

Role includes regular visits, budgeting support, and reporting repairs. DBS check is required; driving own vehicle is preferred. Competitive benefits and career development opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Understanding of supported housing principles, tenancy rights and responsibilities.
• Understanding of GDPR/Data Protection Act and safeguarding adults.
• Basic knowledge of the Welfare Benefits System.
• Understanding of risk assessments and support planning.
• Awareness of issues facing vulnerable people (e.g. mental health, disability, homelessness).
• Understanding of health & safety in housing.
• Competence of using IT.
• Car driver with use of own vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assess referrals and move individuals into Target accommodation.
• Provide structure through person-centered support plans and risk assessments.
• Conduct regular support visits and assist with repairs reporting.
• Manage tenancy and rights compliance and financial aspects (rent, HB payments).
• Coordinate with multi-agency partners and signpost to services.
• Support move-on plans to independent accommodation.
• Assist with income maximisation and budgeting.

Housing Support Worker - Doncaster

Main Purpose:

To support individuals within their temporary accommodation gain the necessary skills to move on to independent living.

Housing Support Worker Tasks

• Assessment of eligible referrals
• Moving individuals into Target accommodation
• Ensure compliance with tenancy/licence agreements & rights and responsibilities
• Develop a person-centered support plan and risk assessment
• Structured support visits
• Support to report repairs and maintenance issues
• Housing management tasks, (e.g void reporting, monitoring rent/HB payments, H & S checks)
• Multi-agency working & signposting to other agencies
• Maximising income & budgeting
• Move on plans & support to obtain independent accommodation

Person Specifications
